Summer Music Camps

Beginner Spring Concert Program 2023

April 28th 6pm 

INFORMATION ABOUT THE EVENT

What: 

• Students will perform their prepared solo (with either a recording or piano accompanist) at the FISD Solo Contest to earn an individual rating (1-3, with a “1” being the highest score)
• FISD Contest 2023 Final Times (alpha order first name)
  • 30 minutes before your solo time = Arrive to Cobb MS and go to the Cafeteria
  • 10 minutes before solo time = Check in at your Room (see Map of Cobb MS)

When: 

• Students are assigned a performance time.
  • Click FISD Contest 2023 Final Times (alpha order first name) 
• Students are expected to arrive 30 minutes before their solo to warm-up in the Cafeteria
• Students are free to leave after their solo performance

Where: 

• Cobb Middle School at 9400 Teel Pkwy, Frisco, TX 75033 
• There will be signs with directions to the rooms
• Map of Cobb MS

Parents:

• Are invited to attend their child’s performance (approx. 6 minutes)
• Parents need to provide transportation for their child to and from the event
• Parking: “Families can park on the left side of the school (North) and enter through the Cafeteria. There is also parking in the front and back, but they will need to still enter through the Cafeteria.”

Who is involved:

• All Concert, Honor, and Symphonic Clark Band students that are eligible 
• Ineligible students will play for a band director at a different time

What to Wear: 

• Students: please plan on wearing the nicest clothes that you have in your closet.
• No jeans, shorts, t-shirts, yoga/pajama pants, crocs, etc. Must be in school dress code. 

Grades:

• Students will receive 3 major grades for this performance (Preparation, Etiquette, Performance) 
• Failure to attend may result in a failing grade for the marking period and possible removal from any extra-curricular activities such as future band parties, etc.

Students, before you leave your house, please make sure that you have:

• Your instrument
• Your music binder
• Your extra reeds, neck strap, mouthpiece, etc.
• and dressed in nice clothes (No jeans, shorts, t-shirts, Crocs)

How to Perform Your Solo

1. Check in at your Room ten minutes before your performance time. Have all of your supplies (music, reeds, instrument, etc). 
2. Enter the room, walk to the performance chair, smile and greet the judge…  

“Hello, my name is __________. I will be performing___________ by ________________________”

1. Sit down, then adjust the music stand to the right height. 
2. When you’re ready, look at to start the Recording or Piano Accompanist and nod your head when you are ready
3. Play your solo
4. When you’re finished, thank the judge, gather your belongings, head back to the Cafeteria. You are free to leave!
