CMS Band Boosters Meeting

Meeting called to order at 7:55
Board/Committee Openings – presented by Melissa Smith:
We are still in need of a Volunteer Coordinator, and a Coordinator for
Concessions for Volleyball and Basketball.
Budget Review – presented by David Dunham:
David presented preliminary numbers to be finalized and presented at a later
date but some tentative information is as follows:
The $23 contest fee was designated to go to UIL competitions. This year we
will only go to one UIL festival so part of the $23 fee will go to accompanists.
Fund Raising – Pens (USA Fundraisers):
Important dates:
Aug. 30 Representative of USA Fundraisers will present the program to the
students.
Sept. 7-21 The students will sell, sell, sell!
CMS band has done this fundraiser in past years and it has proven to be very
profitable.
Calendar Overview – presented by David Dunham:
The 2006/07 calendar was presented with the following events coming up in
the very near future:
Aug. 21 Band Parent Orientation
Sept. 7-21 Fundraiser
Sept. 15 Back-to-School Dance
Oct. 13 Fall Concert (Symphonic, Concert Band I, Concert Band II)
Oct. 19 Beginning Band Concert
Oct. 20 Band Fall Party
Wish List – presented by David Dunham:
Already purchased has been a tote for music stands, Timpani drop covers, and
a CD Holder.
Still on the list is a 2-drawer file cabinet.
Other Business:
Transportation issues were discussed for All-Region auditions.
The Solo and Ensemble Contest will be at held at CMS this year. The Band
Boosters will do concessions and parents will be used to monitor the rooms.
Mr. Dunham expressed his appreciation of the Band Boosters.
Next meeting:
The next board meeting will be held on Sept. 5 at 4:30 in the CMS Band Hall.

Minutes:
Meeting called to order at 5:15 PM.
Treasurer’s Report – Carol Mullin:
o The budget was reviewed with income and expenses discussed as
of 02-12-07
.
Old Business:
o Solo & Ensemble—well organized, went very well. David
suggested there should be some changes as far as the
standardization and classification of music.
o Jazz Concert—February 6th. David said it was the best jazz
concert ever
o Elementary School Tours—7 schools, 2 presentations per school.
New Business:
o TMEA Conductor Conference in San Antonio February 15th and
16th.
o 5th Grade Instrument Screening Nights—Both are from 4:30 –
9:30. Fowler’s will be held February 20th at the current LHS site
and Clark’s will be held February 26th at Clark. Deb is still in
need of a few volunteers—each event will require 15 volunteers.
o Frisco Jazz Festival—Jazz I and II at FHS, February 24th. Jazz
II will perform at 1:30 and Jazz I will perform at 3:00.
o Percussion Concert—March 2nd, 7:00 PM at CHS
o Pre-UIL Clinic/Concert I & II—March 5th from 4 – 7 PM at
Clark. We will be serving pizza to 100 students.
o Pre-UIL Clinic/Symphonic—March 6th from 4 – 7 PM at Clark.
We will be serving pizza to 65 students.
o Pre-UIL Clinic—March 20th, Concert I and Symphonic bands,
pizza for everyone.
o Pre-UIL Concert—March 22nd, Concert I and Symphonic bands;
7:00 PM at Wakeland High School. We will need a U-Haul for
this event.
o Nominating Committees—it was discussed whether a nominating
committee should be established for Fowler since their band
director hasn’t been named and bylaws haven’t been written.
Director’s Notes:
o David would like another electric piano. The cost will be around
$2500 and that will include the keyboard, stand, and amplifier.
o David pointed out the date change of the Hurricane Harbor trip.
The park won’t be open on Friday, May 25th so the date has been
changed to Saturday, May 26th.
o David feels that Symphonic Band members benefited from Mr.
Bennett’s clinic.
The next meeting will be held March 26th at 5:15 PM in the CMS
band hall.
